Coventry's most expensive roads and residential areas revealed

There are some fantastic properties for sale in Coventry at the upper end of the market, and the Land Registry has recently revealed the most expensive streets and houses sold in the city. To buy in Coventry's most exclusive roads, you'll need a budget of about £500,000 - that's almost the same price as the average property for sale in London!

The most expensive road in Coventry during 2014 was Warwick Avenue in Earlsdon, where the average price was around £535,000. This sought-after suburb actually stole the top four spots in Coventry's 'most expensive' list. Warwick Avenue displaces 2013's most expensive Coventry road - Kenilworth Road in Gibbet Hill - where prices averaged around £860,000.

In terms of individual properties for sale in Coventry, the Land Registry has released more recent figures pertaining to the first quarter of 2015. The highest price paid so far this year for a Coventry property has been £500,000 for a house in Lower Eastern Green Lane in Eastern Green. This was followed by the exchange of a property in Poundgate Lane in Westwood Heath for £462,500, as well as two neighbouring homes in the same street for £432,500 and £410,000. Completing the top five was a property for sale in Cannon Park in Tocil Croft, which sold for £380,000.

Carl Allsopp, a co-founder of the Coventry estate agents, says that even the most expensive homes in the city represent excellent value for money: "Coventry remains one of the best major UK cities in which to buy property as I would say that prices are 'sensible' and not out of control. A budget in the region of £500,000 will buy you a beautiful four- or five-bedroom detached house in suburbs like Styvechale and Westwood Heath, many of which will be complete with en-suite bathrooms, a conservatory, a good sized garden and a double garage. When you think of what that would buy you in the South East of the country, our city makes perfect buying sense. The good news is changes to the stamp duty system mean that the most expensive properties for sale in Coventry are now cheaper to buy, with the tax bill on a property worth £380,000 now £2,400 cheaper, and £1,000 less on a home sold for £450,000."
